Kara Powell
Hello, my name is Kara Powell. I would first like to start off saying how excited I am that we are going to be learning the ins and outs of Biology. It is one of my favorite subjects and there are many activites and projects that we can do in order to make learning all of the material interesting as well as exciting. I am a college graduate from the University of South Florida (GO BULLS!) in 2011, where I got a BS degree in Public Health. I have an extensive background in Biology and Chemisty. I am currently enrolled in HCC's EPI (Educator Preparation Institute) to further my education and become a certified teacher.
I am orginially from sunny South Florida, Ft. Lauderdale to be exact. I grew up on the beach where I participated in all sorts of activities. I attended Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School (graduated in 2007), where I was involved in both acedimic and extracuricular activities. I was on the varsity teams of swimming, waterpolo and flag football. In adition to my athelics, I was also in NHS and Peer Ministry. I was in Art club and the Pep Squad.
I have two amazing parents that are very encoraging as we as one brother and two sisters. We are all very close and they have always said I was going to be a teacher. I also have the best dog, Brandy and a pretty sweet turtle, Franklin. Together, they make up the best support system and some pretty awesome support system.
